VETERANS - GET EXPEDITED SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS

Huntsville (Redstone) veterans with a 100 percent disability rating can qualify for expedited decisions from Social Security.  Contact the Forsythe Firm (256) 799-0297 for more information.

How does this expedited disability service help disabled veterans?  The normal application process for a disability claim at Social Security is about 4 months.  That's just for the initial decision. In 80 percent of all cases, the decision then has to be appealed--which can take 18 additional months.

However, certain disabled veterans may qualify for expedited decisions. Wounded warriors with 100 percent and permanent VA disability awards get faster decisions and faster benefits than average claimants under the current regulations.

Here are some other "quick facts" to note about Veterans and Social Security disability:
  • Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits are in addition to VA benefits.
  • Veterans can get SSDI even while receiving active duty pay, if they are disabled.
  • SSDI is not automatic because you have a VA disability award; you must apply separately.
  • Veterans often get denied for SSDI (like everyone else) and often must appeal to get paid.
  • You will qualify for professional representation with no upfront fee, never a fee unless you win SSDI benefits and recover back pay.
  • All veterans who served after 1954 are covered by the Social Security Act.
  • The maximum SSDI benefit is $2,660 per month (in addition to VA benefits).
Also, your disability does not necessarily have to be related to military service.  Social Security must consider all of your impairments--those which are related to military service and those which are not.

Finally, you do not have to have a 100 percent VA disability rating to qualify for SSDI benefits.  The 100 percent VA rating is what qualifies you for expedited processing. You may still qualify for benefits even if you don't have a 100% VA rating, it will just take longer to process.

Consider a firm with experience and a track record in assisting disabled veterans with Social Security disability applications and appeals.  Consider a local firm, located within 1,000 yards of Redstone Arsenal, in Research Park.  Consider a firm that will not charge you a penny unless you receive SSDI benefits with a lump sum back pay settlement.  Consider the Forsythe Firm, 7027 Old Madison Pike, Suite 108 (across from Bridge Street), Huntsville, AL 35806.  (256) 799-0297.
